Base Metals

Resource markets are volatile and exchange rates are constantly fluctuating. For these reasons, consumers, producers and traders in base metals must carefully manage commodity-specific pricing.

Products and services

  • Exchange traded funds (ETFs): We are liquidity providers in physically collateralised gold, platinum and palladium ETFs. These products are listed in the exchange traded fund sub-sector of the JSE; product names start with ‘AFRICA’
  • Commodity-linked exchange traded notes (ETNs) on gold, platinum, palladium, silver, oil, copper, corn and wheat. These rand-based products give investors exposure to the performance of each commodity. The products are issued by Standard Bank and are listed on the JSE in the exchange traded note sub-sector; product names start with ‘SB’.
