An Important Data Incident Update
Following the Standard Bank of South Africa statement issued on March 23, 2026 and subsequently April 2 and 14, 2026 on the recent Data Incident, Stanbic Bank Uganda hereby provides an update on the scope of the local impact based on preliminary investigations.
The investigations confirm that the impact on our local business was limited to a small set of records. These findings have been shared with the Personal Data Protection Office (PDPO) as per regulatory requirements.
Scope of Impact: The specific information involved differs from person to person and includes partial, data sets, such as names, emails, phone numbers, and account numbers.
Our Core Assurances:
- System Integrity: Our core banking and transactional platforms were not accessed or compromised.
- No Evidence of Data Misuse: There is no evidence of data misuse, and we remain committed to safeguarding the customer information that we hold.
- Fund Safety: No client funds were accessed or are at risk.
- Unaffected Bank Operations: All banking services remain fully operational.
