What you need

a) Open an account online: 

  • Click Apply Now button below
  • You must be opening an account for the first time with Stanbic bank Uganda. For all secondary accounts, visit the nearest branch.
  • Enter your names as they appear on your National ID
  • Your phone number must be registered in your names
  • Do not include the country code 256 or zero before the phone number e.g., 780000000.
  • Confirm that your email address is valid and accessible for OTP verification.
  • All fields marked with a symbol * are mandatory and must be completed.
  • Your device must have a camera to capture your photo and enable the online identity verification process.
  • Scan the image of your signature; it must be on a white piece of paper (Size up to 1MB)
  • Your first deposit must be made from the your registered mobile money wallet. (Phone number provided on the account)

b) Open account at your nearest branch 

Ugandan

  • A valid ID 
  • Passport size photograph

Non - Ugandan 

  • A valid passport,  visa & work permit  
  • If a refugee, a refugee ID issued from the Ministry of Internal Affairs

Pro Tip

  • Provide your e-mail address and fill the e-mail indemnity form to allow us to correspond with you on e-mail.

 

Photo Requirements

Your photo is a vital part of your application. To learn more, review the information below on how to provide a suitable photo. 

Passport photos work best however, one may use their phone, tablet or laptop cameras to take photos for upload. 
Your photos or digital images must be: 

  • In colour 
  • Taken within the last 6 months to reflect your current appearance 
  • Taken in front of a plain white or off-white background 
  • Taken in full-face view directly facing the camera 
  • With a neutral facial expression and both eyes open 
  • Do not wear a hat or head covering that obscures the hair or hairline, unless worn daily for a religious purpose. Your full face must be visible, and the head covering must not cast any shadows on your face. 
  • Headphones, wireless hands-free devices, or similar items are not acceptable in your photo. 
  • Eyeglasses should be taken off in photos except in rare circumstances when eyeglasses cannot be removed for medical reasons, e.g., the applicant has recently had ocular surgery and the eyeglasses are necessary to protect the applicant's eyes. 
  • If the eyeglasses are accepted for medical reasons: 
  • The frames of the eyeglasses must not cover the eye(s). 
  • There must not be glare on eyeglasses that obscures the eye(s). 
  • There must not be shadows or refraction from the eyeglasses that obscures the eye(s). 
  • If you normally wear a hearing device or similar articles, they may be worn in your photo.
